Name: Dai Chenyuan
English Name: Vivian
Age: 18
I’ m from
Zhejiang
, China. Now, I’m studying English
Bridging Courses in NIE (National Institute of Education) and in July I will enter Nanyang
Technological University.
I have a happy time with
my roommates. On my 18th birthday, these lovely girls did give me a big surprise---a self-made birthday cake and
a special gift.
In my spare time, usually
I like watching a movie or reading an novel. Music is my best companion and I really enjoy the time with her.
When I stand on the beach,
with the mild wind kissing my face, I know life always has something in store for me, silent but beautiful.

What I've
learned at NIE?
I remembered that when the first day I came to study at NIE, I thought that my English
was poor.
After a few weeks’ study, I encountered my first project --- Oral Survey. I had
to talk with strangers in English and do the report and presentation with my partner. It was a hard time, but I did benefit
a lot.
I learned reading strategies, listening note-taking skills and how to write a research
paper. I also leaned to use library resources, to do a good presentation.
Collaboration and communication with others are the most important things that I learned
from these projects.
I also studied mathematics, physics and chemistry at NIE. Sometimes it seemed complicated
and took me a lot of time, but I did gain knowledge from these lessons.
What NIE teaches me is not just using English or knowledge about Science, but also many skills
and methods for my future learning.
